This training program is for athletes who are will be entering grades 6 & 7 in the Fall.
Using multiple court configurations (mini court & full sized court) and low player to coach ratios, this program will be structured to provide development environments for both intermediate and novice level players.
Participants will receive training in all the basic volleyball skills (passing, setting, hitting and serving) and learn footwork and movement patterns. A lighter ball and a modified game format will used to provide maximum opportunities to practice these skills and prepare players for the more complex 6 on 6 game.
Where appropriate, athletes will be grouped by ability on different courts. Those that can perform the basic skills with control and consistency will have additional skill challenges:
Note: This session is co-ed but boys may want to consider signing up with a friend if they are not comfortable with the possibility of being the only boy in the session.
- Use the regular weight ball
- Drills run at higher intensity
- Game play on a full sized court
- Learn offensive and defensive positional play in a 6 X 6 environment.
